"Green Ore, Wells, Som. A group of four leaden pigs was found 26 in 1956 on Rookery Farm. They had been placed over a filled-in pit and covered with stones." JRS 47, 1957, 230.
"The pigs are now on loan in Wells Museum. The site (grid ref. ST 576514) lies about 1,200 yards north of the cross-roads at Green Ore formed by the Bristol-Wells road and the Roman road which runs south-eastward from Charterhouse-on-Mendip ; it is about 700 yards north-east of this Roman road. Despite the absence of habitation-material, many sherds have been found in this field; part of a bowl found in the pit has been dated to the period A.D. 6o-8o, and other sherds assigned to the third century."
