In the sector of Hadrian's Wall east of Birdoswald fort (milecastle 49-site of turret 49a) three centurial stones were found in 1956 in conservation carried out by H.M. Ministry of Works.
HDO10783 = (b) 13 1/2 by 9 in., found loose on top of Hadrian's Wall at a point 250 ft. east of the
north-east corner of the fort.
