"On Windmill Hill, on the Grange estate, on the little rocky promontory of Bridgeness, immediately overlooking the Forth at the spot chosen for the eastern end of the Antonine Wall. It was lying face downwards, as if it had been deliberately hidden. It appears to have been approximately in situ, and its relationship to the shore-line shows that it must have been placed either on the north face or on the butt-end of the Wall, but not on the south side" (RIB 2139)
