"Together with an ornamented half-column, incorporated in the Norman foundations of the transepts of Peterborough Cathedral; (a) the right-hand upper corner was under the north-east angle of the north transept and (b) the rest was at the north end of the south transept. Before it was included in the foundations, the slab had been carefully cut down to make a building-stone, probably by the Saxon builders" (RIB 231)
