Commentary
Sarkophagfront mit Deckel. Das Inschriftfeld wird links und rechts von Eroten, welche Peltenhenkel halten, flankiert. Beim Bombenangriff auf das Mannheimer Schloss 1944 aus ihrer Halterung an der Wand nach vorn gestürzt und in ca. 70, zum Teil aneinander passende Fragmente zersprungen. Auf der Leiste des Walmdachdeckels sekundär angebrachte, moderne (metrische) Inschrift: HAEC EST IN NOSTRO VETUS AGRO TVMBA REPERTA NONO KALEND[AS] FEBRUARIS [scil. 24.1.1761]. Material: poröser, weicher Kreidetuff. Z. 2: ELI-Ligatur; Z. 4: IN-, ER-Ligaturen. Die Maßangabe bezieht sich auf die Front in ihrem Vorkriegszustand. Maße Deckel (Vorkriegszustand): Höhe max. 33; Tiefe max. 27.5.
